The Newfoundland Growlers look to etch their name into the ECHL history books as they continue their quest for the Kelly Cup this weekend in the 2019 Kelly Cup Finals against the Toledo Walleye, ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. The Growlers and Walleye did not meet during the regular season.
With Saturday’s win over the Florida Everblades, the Growlers become the first team to reach the ECHL Finals in their first season since the Greensboro Monarchs in 1990.
LAST GAME
Scott Pooley opened the scoring with just under two minutes left in the second period, and Michael Garteig recorded his second-straight shutout as the Newfoundland Growlers punched their ticket to the 2019 Kelly Cup Finals with a 3-0 win over the Florida Everblades Saturday night at Mile One Centre to take the series 4-1. Hudson Elynuik and Giorgio Estephan also scored for the Growlers.
