The Newfoundland Growlers continue their eight-game road trip with an All-Canadian weekend matchup against the Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators. The weekend series marks the first time two Canadian teams have played each other in ECHL history.

LAST GAME

Anthony Cortese netted the game-winner against his former team as the Newfoundland Growlers defeated the Reading Royals 3-1 Wednesday night at the Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. Sam Babinstev and Giorgio Estephan with an empty net tally also scored for Newfoundland. Frank DiChiara had the lone Royals goal. Michael Garteig was sensational between the pipes kicking away 26 shots to pick up his third win of the season. Both clubs were 1/5 on the power play.

  • Scott Pooley had a pair of goals, including the game-winner with 1:09 left to play as the Growlers edged the Brampton Beast 6-5 in dramatic fashion to wrap up their preseason at the Clarenville Events Centre. Zach O’Brien, Matt Bradley, Brady Ferguson, and Marcus Power also tallied for the Growlers.
