Sam Babintsev takes leave to return to Russia

ST. JOHN’S, NEWFOUNDLAND— The Newfoundland Growlers announced today that forward Sam Babintsev has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the club to return to explore opportunities in Russia.

Babintsev appeared in 32 games this season with the Newfoundland Growlers where he recorded 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points and 10 penalty minutes. Babintsev signed with the Growlers on August 14th, 2018, becoming just the fourth player in franchise history to sign with the club. 

The Growlers are back in action Friday night in Glens Falls, New York as they take on the Adirondack Thunder. Puck drop is slated 8:30 PM and fans can tune in to the internet broadcast at mixlr.com/nlgrowlers.
