Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers continued the win one, lose one trend Tuesday evening with a 5-1 loss to the Adirondack Thunder in Glens Falls, New York

Adirondack opened the scoring at the 6:00 minute mark of the first period as Peter MacAuther tucked the puck just over the shoulder of Growlers goaltender Michael Garteig, who was making his 8th start of the season.

The Thunder would score once more in the first period, this time on the power-play from the stick of Desmond Bergin. The goal would hold up as the eventual game winning tally.

In the second period, Adirondack would add markers from Brian Ward and Shane Conacher before the leading scorer of the Newfoundland Growlers, Giorgio Estephan found the back of the net. Estephan’s power-play tally would come at the 12:52 point of the second period.

The Growlers would build momentum in the final frame and even pulled goaltender Michael Garteig with just over 2 minutes left in the game to try and bring the team within two goals. Those hopes were dashed when Thunder forward Coner Riley slid the puck into the empty cage to finalize the victory 5-1.
