The Newfoundland Growlers wrap up a seven-game home stand with a three-in-three matchup against the Orlando Solar Bears, ECHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Solar Bears were previously the affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs before Toronto moved their ECHL team to Newfoundland. The Growlers and Solar Bears faced off twice this season in Orlando with the Growlers picking up three of a possible four points.

LAST GAME

Zach O’Brien continued his hot play of late netting the game-winning goal as the Newfoundland Growlers doubled up on the Reading Royals 4-2 Wednesday night at Mile One Centre to complete the mid-week series sweep. J.J. Piccinich, Ryan Moore and Giorgio Estephan also tallied for Newfoundland. Eamon McAdam turned in a first-star performance making 26 saves between the pipes.

The Newfoundland Growlers suffered their first overtime defeat in franchise history against the Orlando Solar Bears in a high scoring 6-5 game. Chris LeBlanc netted the overtime winner for his second of the night for Orlando. Curt Gogol also had a pair of goals for the home team. Giorgio Estephan, Brady Ferguson, Marcus Power, Scott Pooley and Hudson Elynuik tallied for Newfoundland. Michael Garteig turned aside 32 shots.
