ST. JOHN’S, NL –The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, are proud to announce that forward and St. John’s native Zach O’Brien has been named the InglascoECHL Player of the Week for the week of November 22 to 28.
O’Brien, 29, appeared in three games for the Growlers last week and turned heads with a massive ten-point performance, including five goals and five assists.
O’Brien began his week with a bang, recording a goal and three assists against the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday.
On Sunday afternoon against Worcester, O’Brien tied Growlers franchise records for goals in a single game (4) and points in a single game (5) in helping lift the club to a 6-0 victory over the Railers at the DCU Center.
The 2019 Kelly Cup Playoffs MVP is now tied for the ECHL lead in assists with 15 and is in a tie for fifth in overall points with 21.
On behalf of O’Brien, Inglasco, the ECHL’s exclusive puck supplier, will donate a case of pucks to a Newfoundland and Labrador youth hockey organization.
