TORONTO MARLIES RECALL KAPCHECK AND PIETRONIRO

TORONTO MARLIES RECALL KAPCHECK AND PIETRONIRO

ST. JOHN'S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announce today that defensemen Brennan Kapcheck and Matteo Pietroniro have been recalled to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.

Kapcheck, a 25-year-old native of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, has been enjoying a stellar start to his rookie season in Newfoundland. The defenseman recorded his first professional goal on October 21 against the Trois-Riviėres Lions and has amassed a goal and nine assists for ten points and a plus-seven rating in 16 games played this season.

Pietroniro, 23, leads the Growlers in plus/minus with a superb plus-11 rating. The Boise, Idaho native leads all Growler rearguards in points with 11, including two goals and nine assists. He scored his first ECHL goal on October 23 against the Adirondack Thunder.

The Growlers continue their six-game homestand this weekend as they host the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, the Trois-Riviėres Lions, at the Mary Brown’s Centre on Dec. 10, 11 and 12. For more information or to secure your tickets, please visit nlgrowlers.com/tickets.
