GARRETT JOHNSTON RETURN FROM STINT WITH AHL'S CANUCKS

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that defenseman Garrett Johnston has been released from his professional tryout contract (PTO) with the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks and will join the Growlers on their current road trip.

The 2019 Kelly Cup champion defenseman appeared in one game with the Canucks during his callup and did not record a point.

The 26-year-old Winnipeg, Manitoba native has appeared in 11 games as a Growler thus far this season, collecting one assist and two penalty minutes.

Newfoundland kicks off a seven-game road trip on Friday, January 21 at Cable Dahmer Arena against the Kansas City Mavericks.
