ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, are proud to announce that Growlers forward Orrin Centazzo has been named the Inglasco ECHL Player of the Week for the week of January 17 to the 23.
Centazzo’s first week of the calendar year of 2022 was a memorable one for the 21-year-old Marwayne, Alberta native.
In three games this past weekend against Kansas City (2) and Tulsa, Centazzo amassed five goals and three assists for eight points.
On Friday night in Kansas City, Centazzo recorded his first professional hat trick and chipped in with two assists for five points as the Growlers downed the Mavericks 9-4.
He followed up his sterling performance with another multi-point night (1G, 1A) on Saturday night to complete the two-game series with Kansas City, and in the weekend finale in Tulsa, Centazzo recorded the lone Growler goal in a 5-1 defeat.
Centazzo becomes the second Growler this season to earn the ECHL’s Player of the Week honours as Zach O’Brien won the award for the week of November 22 to 28, 2021.
On behalf of Orrin Centazzo, a case of pucks will be donated to a Newfoundland youth hockey organization by Inglasco, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Inglasco has donated more than 45,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
