Growlers Trade Bafia To Nailers

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that the club has traded defenceman Luke Bafia to the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for future considerations.

Bafia, 26, appeared in 21 games for Newfoundland this season, amassing three points (1G, 2A) and 61 penalty minutes along the way.

The Parrish, Florida native spent last season, his first as a professional, in the ECHL split between the Kansas City Mavericks and Utah Grizzlies where he played a cumulative 56 games between the two teams during the 2020-21 campaign.

Prior to turning pro, Bafia played four seasons at Western Michigan University, where he finished his college career with the Broncos having collected 46 points in 134 appearances for the program.

Ahead of his NCAA stint, Bafia played two years in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers where he notched 23 points and 252 penalty minutes across two seasons and 113 appearances for the Gamblers.
