ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, are proud to announce that goaltender Dryden McKay has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 23, 2022.
McKay, a native of Downers Grove, Illinois, went 2-0-0 during the opening week of the season, including a 25-save performance on Friday night against Reading to pick up his first win as a professional.
He followed that up with another stellar performance on Sunday, allowing just two goals on 31 shots. He finished the weekend with a 2.00 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.
On an AHL contract with the Toronto Marlies, McKay is the reigning Hobey Baker Award winner as the top college player in all the NCAA. He established a new NCAA record for career shutouts (34) and single season wins (38 in 2021-22) during his time at Minnesota State (2018-19 to 2021-22).
The Growlers return to action on Friday, October 28 as they head to the Colisee Videotron in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec to renew their rivalry with the Lions.
