Matteo Pietroniro Assigned To Growlers

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, are proud to announce that defenseman Matteo Pietroniro has been reassigned to the Growlers by the AHL’s Toronto Marlies. 

Pietroniro, a 24-year-old left-shooting defenseman, appeared in 59 games for the Growlers a season ago, scoring five goals and adding 22 assists for 27 points with 66 penalty minutes in his rookie season in the ECHL. 

The Boise, Idaho native also played in all 19 postseason games during the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs, recording three assists. 

Newfoundland kick off the 2022-23 ECHL on Friday, October 21 as they host their North Division rivals, the Reading Royals, at the Mary Brown’s Centre. Tickets are on sale now at nlgrowlers.com/tickets.
