RECAP | GROWLERS EDGED OUT 4-3 IN OT BY RAILERS

Newfoundland Growlers (5-0-1-0) vs. Worcester Railers (6-0-0-0) Wednesday, November 2 – Worcester, Mass.

OFFICIAL GAME SHEETGame Story

The Newfoundland Growlers settled for a single point as their winning streak came to a close in a 4-3 overtime loss against the Worcester Railers on Wednesday night at DCU Center.

Nolan Vesey opened the scoring for Worcester midway through the first period as he beat Dryden McKay on a partial breakaway to make it 1-0 Railers.

Reece Newkirk doubled the Railers lead just over a minute later as he showed some good hands to tuck one in behind McKay from a tight angle to put the hosts up 2-0 after 20 minutes.

Tyler Boland replied for the Growlers six minutes into the second period as he finished some great playmaking from linemates Zach O’Brien and Orrin Centazzo to cut it to 2-1.

Despite Newfoundland outshooting Worcester 13-3 in the middle frame, it remained 2-1 Railers going into the third period thanks in large part due to some strong play from Railers goaltender Ken Appleby.

Brett Budgell got things to level at 2-2 eight minutes into the final period as he snapped one over the shoulder of Appleby from the top of the hashmarks.

Nathan Noel gave the Growlers their first lead of the night with 6:54 left in regulation where he finished off a scrappy shorthanded breakaway to make it 3-2 Newfoundland.

Anthony Repaci equalized for the Railers with just 48 seconds left in the game before Collin Adams beat McKay three minutes into OT as Newfoundland remained unbeaten in regulation despite the 4-3 OT defeat.
