ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, are proud to announce that forward Zach O’Brien will represent the club at the upcoming 2023 Warrior/ECHL All-Star Classic, to be hosted at the home of the Norfolk Admirals, the Norfolk Scope Arena on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023.
O’Brien will serve as a member of the Eastern Conference All-Stars who will face off against the Western Conference All-Stars and the Cruisers and Destroyers, two teams comprised of players from the host Norfolk Admirals, in a tournament event including tradiitonal games and a skills competition.
The rosters for the Eastern Conference and Western Conference All-Stars were determined in a vote of coaches, team captains, media relations directors, broadcasters and members of the media.
O’Brien, a 30-year-old St. John’s native, was named to last year’s event but was unable to make it due to travel complications. This year will mark his first appearance at an ECHL All-Star Classic with the veteran forward off to a sizzling start with 42 points (11G, 31A) through just 24 games played.
Zach O’Brien joins former Growlers Giorgio Estephan and Joe Duszak as the only players in club history to participate in the ECHL’s annual All-Star Classic.
