The Newfoundland Growlers play their final three games before the holiday break away from home as they visit the Adirondack Thunder and Worcester Railers this weekend.
Newfoundland head into Glens Falls on Friday night winners of four straight contests, their most recent victory a 4-3 overtime win over the Iowa Heartlanders last Sunday at Mary Brown’s Centre.
Dealing with a depleted roster thanks to call-ups and injury issues, the Growlers have managed to claw their way back into first place in the North Division thanks to their strong play of late.
Adirondack have had a difficult start to the season overall and come into the game against Newfoundland winners of just one of their last seven games. Despite their struggles, the Thunder have had the Growlers number so far in 2022-23, winning both prior meetings by a 3-2 score line last month.
Worcester have had a rollercoaster of results to open their 2022-23 campaign. Starting the year 9-0-0-0 out of the gate and spending most of the season atop the league standings, the Railers find themselves in the midst of a five-game losing streak and second in the North Division behind the Growlers.
Taking two out of three meetings in Newfoundland on the first weekend of December, the Railers will be hoping to find success once again against the Growlers – this time on home ice.
Puck drops is set for 8:30 pm Friday in Glens Falls before the Growlers head to Worcester for an 8:35 pm Saturday/4:35 pm Sunday evening doubleheader at the DCU Center. Fans can watch all three games live on FloSports (subscription required), listen to the call on Mixlr, or follow along on Twitter (@NLGrowlers) for game updates and highlights.
WHO TO WATCH:
NFL – Zach Solow (F): Just back from a stint in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, Solow should provide an offensive boost for Newfoundland in his return to the Growlers lineup. His last appearance came back on November 26 where he picked up four points (2G, 2A) in a 9-6 win over the Maine Mariners.
