ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that goaltender Keith Petruzzelli has been assigned to the club by the Toronto Maple Leafs via the Toronto Marlies (AHL).
Petruzzelli, a 23-year-old Wilbraham, Massachusetts native, is 9-4-0-0 for the Marlies this season and earned an NHL contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this year thanks to his strong start to 2022-23. In two appearances for Newfoundland on assignment last month, he posted a win and a loss in back-to-back road starts before being re-called.
Suiting up for the Growlers last year, Petruzzelli was named to the 2021-22 ECHL All-Rookie team thanks to his stellar 16-6-1-0 record and .927% save percentage. The former Detroit Red Wings draft pick also appeared in 19 playoff games for Newfoundland last Spring.
The Growlers return to action on Wednesday, January 11 as they kick off a three-game series at the Mary Brown’s Centre against the Worcester Railers. Tickets are available now at nlgrowlers.com/tickets.
