Simon Kubicek Assigned To Growlers

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that defenceman Simon Kubicek has been assigned to the club by the Manitoba Moose (AHL).

Kubicek, a 21-year-old Jindrichuv Hradec, Czech Republic native, has played 17 regular season contests with the Growlers this season and scored two goals and added three assists for five points. He’s also featured in three contests for the Moose across several stints in the AHL this year.

Prior to turning pro, Kubicek played three years in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds and Edmonton Oil Kings, playing in the Memorial Cup with Edmonton this past June. The Moose prospect also represented Czechia in the 2020 & 2021 World Junior Championships.

Defenceman Chris Martenet has subsequently been recalled by Manitoba.

Newfoundland return to the Mary Brown’s Centre next weekend as they host the Trois-Rivieres Lions for a three-game set beginning on Friday night. Tickets are available now at nlgrowlers.com/tickets.
