ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that defenceman Chris Martenet has been assigned to the club by the Manitoba Moose (AHL).
Martenet, a 26-year-old Indianapolis native, has played 23 regular season contests with the Growlers this season and scored one goal and added three assists for four points. He has yet to play in a game for Manitoba this year but played in three contests in 2021-22 for the Moose.
In 39 appearances for Newfoundland during the 2021-22 season. He scored 15 goals, good for a share of fifth on the team in goals scored and added 11 assists for 26 points to finish off his regular season.
Prior to turning pro, Martenet was drafted in the 4th round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars and was a member of the 2016 Memorial Cup champion London Knights alongside Mitch Marner.
Newfoundland return to action on Friday as they once again take on the Cincinnati Cyclones.
