The Newfoundland Growlers wrapped up the calendar year with a 2-1 win over the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday night at the Wings Event Center.

Pavel Gogolev opened the scoring on the powerplay with five minutes left in the first period to make it 1-0 Growlers after the 1st.

Luke Cavallin turned away all 17 shots he faced in the middle frame to preserve the Growlers 1-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Tyler Irvine replied for Kalamazoo with 13:45 left in regulation as he banged home a loose puck in the slot to make it 1-1.

Jack Badini scored the game winning goal with just over two minutes left as he finished off a slick pass from Brett Budgell to secure a 2-1 Growlers victory.
