The Newfoundland Growlers are in the Buckeye State this week where they’ll take on the Cincinnati Cyclones in a three-game series beginning on Wednesday night.
Newfoundland are midway through a six-game road trip having won two out of three last weekend in a tripleheader – the most recent game a 6-4 win over the Adirondack Thunder on Sunday afternoon in Glens Falls.
After a rocky start away from home in the early stages of the season, the Growlers have now won four of their last five road contests and remain first in the North Division on 55 points thanks to some recent consistent play.
Cincinnati played nine regular season games before their first regulation loss of 2022-23 and have stayed hot ever since. Sitting second in the Central Division with 48 points, the Cyclones should provide a solid test for a Growlers team visiting the Heritage Bank Center for the first time ever.
Last season, the Cyclones came to the Mary Brown’s Centre for the Growlers final homestand of the regular season in what proved to be three highly entertaining games. With each side in fine form coming into this series, expect no less this week in Ohio.
Puck drops is set for 9:05 pm Wednesday, 8:30 pm Friday and 9:05 pm once again on Saturday night. Fans can watch all three games live on FloSports (subscription required), listen to the call on Mixlr, or follow along on Twitter (@NLGrowlers) for game updates and highlights.
WHO TO WATCH:
NFL – Nolan Walker (F): Quietly up to 10 goals in his first year as a pro, the 24-year-old Anchorage, Alaska product has become a reliable source of secondary scoring for the Growlers. With injuries and call-ups within the forward group, Walker could assume an even bigger role this week.
CIN – Louie Caporusso (F): Leading the Cyclones in goals and points, the 33-year-old Woodbridge, Ontario native is one of the major concerns for the Growlers D corps this week.
