The Newfoundland Growlers dropped a midweek matchup with the Adirondack Thunder in a 4-2 loss on Wednesday night at Mary Brown’s Centre.

Patrick Grasso opened the scoring five minutes into the first period with a powerplay snipe over the blocker of Luke Cavallin to make it 1-0 Adirondack early.

Brandon Kruse finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play from Newfoundland with 2:35 left in the 1st to tie it at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

Brady Fleurent took back the lead for the Thunder inside two minutes of the second period to put the visitors ahead 2-1 before Shane Harper got in on the scoring just three mintues later to give Adirondack a 3-1 lead.

Pavel Gogolev forced one in for the Growlers at the back post with six minutes left in the middle frame to cut the deficit to 3-2 heading into the third period.

Grant Jozefek sealed it for the Thunder with an empty netter with two minutes to go for a 4-2 Adirondack victory.
