The Newfoundland Growlers remain on the rock for a second straight series as they host the Adirondack Thunder in a three-game set beginning on Wednesday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre.
Newfoundland endured a battle this past weekend against the Maine Mariners where they won two out of the three meetings including a thrilling 5-3 win in the rubber match on Sunday evening. Now up to 19-5-0-0 on home ice this season, the Growlers sit 11 points clear atop the North Division standings.
Adirondack have had difficulty finding consistency in 2022-23 but still serve as a formidable opponent within the division, winning three of their last four contests all against North Division teams.
Having played the Growlers five times already this season all in Glens Falls, the Thunder own a positive 3-2-0-0 record against Newfoundland and have consistently found another level in the head-to-head matchup.
In their first visit to Newfoundland of the year, expect a motivated Adirondack group looking to retain their role as a thorn in the Growlers side and keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
Puck drops is set for 7:00 pm on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night and Growlers fans can watch all three games live on FloSports (subscription required), listen to the call on Mixlr, or follow along on Twitter (@NLGrowlers) for game updates and highlights. Tickets for all three games can be purchased at nlgrowlers.com/tickets.
WHO TO WATCH:
NFL – Todd Skirving (F): Playing up and down the Newfoundland lineup and even plugging in on defence periodically hasn’t stopped Skirving from leading the team in goals with 21 in 43 games. His next tally will break his career best in that department which he set during the 2021-22 season.
ADK – Patrick Grasso(F): Splitting time between the ECHL and AHL, Grasso still leads the Thunder with 19 goals in 36 appearances and has been prolific against the Growlers dating back to last season.
