Jonny Tychonick Assigned To Growlers

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that defenceman Jonny Tychonick has been assigned to the club by the Toronto Marlies (AHL).

Tychonick, a 23-year-old Penticton, BC native, signed a two-year AHL contract with the Marlies this past Monday but is yet to play a game with Toronto.

A former 2nd round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators (48th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft), Tychonick is coming off a career season in his fifth and final year in the NCAA, notching 26 points in 38 games for the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Prior to three years with Omaha, he also played two seasons of college hockey with North Dakota and spent two seasons in the BCHL with his hometown Penticton Vees.

Tychonick is expected join the Growlers and make his professional debut on their current road trip.

Newfoundland return to action on Friday as they take on the Florida Everblades at Hertz Arena.
