ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that defenceman Matteo Pietroniro and forward Ryan Chyzowski have been assigned to the club by the Toronto Marlies (AHL).

The former Chicago Steel captain was a mainstay on the Newfoundland blueline in 2021-22, racking up 27 points (5G, 22A) in 59 regular season games before suiting up in all 19 postseason contests for the Growlers.
Chyzowski, a 22-year-old Kamloops, BC native, has also spent most of the season in the AHL, playing 36 games for the Marlies this season and collecting three points (2G, 1A) in the process. In just three appearances for Newfoundland last weekend, he racked up eight points (4G, 4A) before being recalled.
The second year pro split time between Newfoundland and Toronto in 2021-22 but played a pivotal role in the Growlers postseason run last Spring, appearing in 17 playoff games.
Pietroniro and Chyzowski are expected to feature for Newfoundland this weekend as they conclude their regular season on the road in Reading.
