The Newfoundland Growlers win streak ended at four games as they fell 3-1 to the Reading Royals on Friday night at Santander Arena.

Evan Barratt opened the scoring for Reading with just under seven minutes left in the first before Jacob Gaucher doubled the hosts lead to put the Royals up 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.

Dryden McKay stopped all 15 shots he faced in the second to keep Newfoundland within two with the same score line staying true heading into the third period.

Ryan Chyzowski sniped one past Pat Nagle with 11:35 left in regulation to get the Growlers within one, trailing 2-1.

Max Newton restored Reading’s two goal advantage just 47 seconds later to quickly make it 3-1 Royals.
