2023 North Division Semifinal: Newfoundland lead series 3-1
OFFICIAL GAME SHEETGame Story
The Newfoundland Growlers took a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Adirondack Thunder thanks to an 5-3 Game Four win on Thursday night at Mary Brown’s Centre.
Newfoundland picked up where they left off in Game 3 as they got three even strength goals in the opening 20 minutes from Jack Badini, Zach O’Brien and Matt Hellickson to give the Growlers a 3-0 lead after the first period.
Patrick Grasso got one back for the Thunder midway through the middle frame as he buried on an Adirondack 5-on-3 before Ryan Smith fooled Dryden McKay from center ice two minutes later with a sky high dump attempt to get Adirondack within one heading into the third.
O’Brien nabbed his second of the game less than three minutes into the third before Travis Broughman replied for the Thunder just 53 seconds later to make it 4-3 Newfoundland.
Zach Solow restored the Growlers two goal lead with a 5-on-3 snipe 12:36 before the end of regulation to restore Newfoundland’s two goal lead.
McKay and the rest of the Growlers would turn away any further Thunder efforts to hold on for a huge 5-3 victory.
- Zach O’Brien had a 3-point night (2G, 1A).
