The Newfoundland Growlers dropped a tight Game Five affair 5-2 to the Florida Everblades on Sunday afternoon at the Mary Brown’s Centre.

Pavel Gogolev opened the scoring 8:43 into the game with a 2-on-1 snipe before Blake Winiecki replied just 32 seconds later to level things at 1-1 after the first period.

Gogolev made it a pair just 39 seconds into the middle frame as he restored the home team’s lead, putting the Growlers up 2-1.

Ben Masella had the game level again heading into the third period as he scored a powerplay blast with 59 seconds left in the 2nd to make it 2-2.

John McCarron found the breakthrough for Florida as he redirected a point shot past Luke Cavallin with 7:11 left in regulation.

Joe Pendenza and Cam Darcy added empty netters for the Everblades to give the visitors a 5-2 victory.
