The Newfoundland Growlers head home with a commanding 3-0 series lead in the North Division Final thanks to a 6-3 win over the Reading Royals on Tuesday night at Santander Arena.
Keenan Suthers wasted no time getting the scoring started as he gave Newfoundland a 1-0 lead just 14 seconds into the contest.
Max Newton replied for Reading less than two minutes later before the Growlers got a pair of late first period tallies from Tommy Miller and Nolan Walker to grab a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Newfoundland opened the floodgates in the middle frame as Tyler Boland, Isaac Johnson and Brandon Kruse got their names on the scoresheet to see the Growlers go up 6-1 heading into the second intermission.
Evan Barratt and Brendan Hoffman got a pair back for Reading in the second half of the third but the Royals comeback would gain no further ground as the Growlers held for a 6-3 victory.
