ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that forward Zach Solow has been assigned to the club by the Toronto Marlies (AHL).
Solow, a 24-year-old Naples, Florida native, played 42 regular season contests with the Growlers this season and scored 14 goals and added 28 assists for 42 points before racking up eight points (3G, 5A) in nine post season appearances. He also played in one playoff game for the Marlies before they were eliminated from the Calder Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night.
Last season, Solow played an integral role on the Florida Everblades team which eliminated the Growlers in the Eastern Conference Final before going on to hoist the Kelly Cup. Solow was the Everblades leading scorer with 18 points in 19 postseason appearances last spring.
Newfoundland begin their Eastern Conference Final series with Florida on Friday night with Game One at Hertz Arena in Estero set for 9:00pm NL time.
