Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers had a tough day at the office in an 8-2 defeat to the South Carolina Stingrays on Sunday evening at the Mary Brown’s Centre.

Patrick Harper and Michael Kim both struck for the Stingrays inside the opening eight minutes to make it 2-0 for the visitors early. Jarid Lukosevicius tacked on another late in the period to make it 3-0 South Carolina after one.

Jack Adams and Harper got on the board for South Carolina early in the second, Tate Singleton got the Growlers on the board before Lukosevicius also made it a pair for the visitors as South Carolina got ahead 6-1 at the halfway mark of the game.

Jonny Tychonick and Austin Magera scored for their respective sides late in the 2nd to make it 7-2 South Carolina after 40 minutes.

Benton Maass brought it to an 8-2 final with a third period goal for the visitors.
