Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers dropped a tight 5-4 decision against the Worcester Railers on Thursday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre.

Blade Jenkins gave the Railers an early 1-0 lead as a favourable bounce went Worcester’s way just three minutes in before Connor Welsh made it 2-0 for the visitors just before the opening intermission.

Grant Cruikshank got the Growlers on the board before a second from Jenkins and a Brendan Robbins tally made it 4-1 Worcester midway through the second.

Jackson Berezowski dragged Newfoundland back into it as he cut the lead to two before the second intermission and nabbed a second with 11:15 left to go to bring it to 4-3 Worcester.

Tate Singleton appeared to send this game to overtime as he leveled it with 3:47 left in regulation before Ashton Calder played spoiler with a powerplay snipe 107 seconds before the final buzzer to seal a 5-4 whirlwind victory for Worcester.
