Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers fell 6-3 to the Maine Mariners on Saturday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre.

Zach O’Brien opened the scoring eight minutes into the game with a powerplay tally before Tyler Drevitch replied for Maine just 41 seconds later. Isaac Johnson ripped a powerplay blast late in the first on a Growlers 5-on-3 to make it 2-1 Newfoundland after 20 minutes.

Alex Kile tied at 2-2 with a powerplay goal two minutes into the middle frame. After Ty Voit restored the Growlers lead with 5:43 left in the 2nd, Kile nabbed his second of the night with 17:06 left in regulation to tie it at 3-3.

Jimmy Lambert gave Maine their first lead of the game with 5:58 to go before the Mariners added a pair of empty netters to make it a 6-3 final in favour of the visitors.
