Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers made it two straight over the Utah Grizzlies in a 6-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Mary Brown’s Centre.

Brock Caufield found the back of the net just 84 seconds into the game to give Newfoundland an early 1-0 lead before Todd Skirving brought it to 2-0 midway through the first. 

Grant Cruikshank ripped one top corner two minutes before the first intermission to see the Growlers go up 3-0 after 20 minutes.

Neil Shea joined the fun with 6:03 left in the second to put Newfoundland ahead 4-0 before Kyle Mayhew broke the deadlock for Utah with 29 seconds left in the second to cut it to 4-1 Growlers going into the third.

Cruikshank nabbed his second 35 seconds into the third before Brandon Cutler clawed one back for Utah moments later to bring it to 5-2. Zach O’Brien made it 6-2 on the powerplay with 11:17 left to go to secure a 6-2 Newfoundland victory.
