Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers battled back to earn a point but ultimately fell 4-3 in overtime against the Norfolk Admirals on Friday night at the Norfolk Scope.

Joe Gatenby opened the scoring in his Growlers debut with 4:40 left in the opening period before Kamerin Nault equalized for the Admirals two minutes later to make it 1-1 after the 1st.

Mark Liwiski put Norfolk ahead 2-1 midway through the middle frame, a lead which held up heading into the second intermission.

Denis Smirnov put the Admirals up 3-1 with 11:02 to go in regulation before Keenan Suthers notched a pair of late third period tallies to force overtime and secure a point for the Growlers.

Brady Fleurent would find the decisive strike 1:42 into OT on an Admirals powerplay to give Norfolk a 4-3 win.
