Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers knocked off the Reading Royals 5-3 on Wednesday night at Santander Arena.

Joseph Nardi opened the scoring for Reading with 3:54 left in the 1st to give the hosts a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Newfoundland’s offence exploded in the second period as Tyler Weiss and Neil Shea sniped singles before Grant Cruikshank grabbed a pair of his own all within a 10:20 span to take a commanding 4-1 lead into the 3rd.

Yvan Mongo and Ryan Cox did manage to get the Royals with 75 seconds left in regulation but Tate Singleton provided the Growlers some insurance six seconds before the final buzzer as his empty netter secured a 5-3 Newfoundland road victory.
