Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers came out on top 4-3 in a back and forth affair with the Trois-Rivières Lions on Saturday afternoon at Colisée Vidéotron.

Jordan Escott and Todd Skirving both got on the board for the Growlers in the first period to give Newfoundland a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Isaac Johnson brought it to 3-0 seconds into the 2nd to put the visitors up three heading into the third period.

Trois-Rivières put the comeback push on hard in the closing frame as Cedric Montminy, Alex-Olivier Voyer and Nolan Yaremko all struck for the Lions to force overtime.

After overtime settled nothing, Jackson Berezowski scored in the shootout for the Growlers while Vyacheslav Peksa stopped all three Lions he faced to seal the 4-3 shootout victory.
